The Vacancy Project pursues a set of concrete projects under one umbrella. This page tracks each one at a glance — what it is, where it stands, and what’s next. Check back as the work develops, or follow project updates.

Workstreams

• The vacancy map & data — Live. Block-by-block documentation of every vacant site in the downtown core, refreshed as properties change hands and come back into use.
• Coalition building — Underway. Organizing property owners, businesses, residents, and public officials around a shared plan; first organizing meeting held June 24, 2026, co-sponsored by Renaissance Petaluma.
• Policy & advocacy — Underway. Working with the City to reduce bureaucracy, speed approvals, and shift from passive regulation to active partnership.
• Feasibility tools — In development. A public “Does it pencil?” calculator and surveys for developers, owners, and prospective tenants.
